This is a Traditional artist of whom I have watched for sometime. And while in the work of abstracts it can be difficult to generate something truly unique across several pieces artworks; she seems to do so with some regularity. Much of her work is very organic leaving us with

:iconwalkingmelonsaaa:

This is a lovely traditional/digital artist who comes up with some really powerful compositions.

The Fountain of Tears by WalkingMelonsAAA

I really enjoyed this because it is so organic. Obviously, when you're working with pencil shading plays a huge role in the way the images come across. However, I don't think she over did the use of smudging. I think it has a lovely ink quality to the way the shading is done. There is a great sense of scope when the figures are dwarfed, in size, by the mushrooms/flowers they're standing on. It has a lovely sense of lifelessness even though it is mostly organic. (Tip: Read her description, it explains why!) Obviously there is a great deal of tones and value contrast. I have to admit she really captured light in an intelligent way.

Dark zero suit samus steps by WalkingMelonsAAA

I think work-in-progress is the most important thing we can do as artists. You get a really solid sense of how an image comes together. So, this tetraptych (four paneled work of art) interests me on several levels. The initial panel has some level contrasts, a strong mix of sharp lines that vies an idea of more to come. When the colors are added we get a rough idea of what the image is going to come to be. I like that the feint black lines become nice rough bright blue swirls in the third panel. Finally the finished panel is very smooth.

This guy only has 315 views GET YOUR ASS OVER TO HIS PROFILE!. I am not going to write a bunch for him because he is German and I don't know how much English he speaks. His profiles seems pretty well written but I'd hate to accidentally waste my time.

Dream-Towers by YaoYuehyin

Lonesome Ghost by YaoYuehyin

Rubin-Baumhohle by YaoYuehyin

I love the colors on this. I love the way that this image comes together. It is highly saturated around the figure and it gets less so, as it moves away from her. The little details are very smooth. I love this guys general style.

:iconbranislavfabijanic:

This guy has a really abstract gallery.

:icontheanimalparade:

Featuring this artist because she is a badass :) Check out her gallery, she deserves it.

State of Decay by Theanimalparade
Fantastic emotive value. The expression and the chipped nails really give us a worn feel. The fact that she is this close to the camera but doesn't make eye-contact with the viewer is really, really powerful. The depth-of-field drops off the hands so her face is out of view. She is in our face but she is obscured both by said depth of field and by the hands being in the way. This is fantastic.

One Last Kiss by Theanimalparade Broken Skin by Theanimalparade

Great lips in both images, both sexy. She does this thing with her make up where she touches it up with the black or removes it, I am unsure. It is really cool in the second image but the subtle nature of the additional black dots on the first are just really cool. Great contrasts on both images – likely enhanced by the metal in her piercings.

Flower Girl (II) by Idiosyzygic

This has a lovely feel to it. The composition is broken into a nice rule of thirds and the tension is great. The perspective is lovely because it is obvious the figure is oblivious to what is going on. It is also cute. You have the sense that she is in a big hurry because she is eating her lunch/breakfast on the fly and she is walking fast enough that various things are falling out of her bag and they've yet to hit the ground. The flower in her hand, hair and on her bag make a nice powerful dominate triangle that kind of creates its own stability, right there, in that portion of the image – which kind of contrasts with the chaos created by the other details I've mentioned.

:icondesigningdisasters:

Traditional and Digital artist with a lot of variety in her gallery: very intense. Check it out. She is a growing artist who needs to post more work. Your job, as a viewer, is to encourage her to want to post more on this website :)

Singing The Blues by designingdisasters
I think the expression is very emotive. The shading is really nice. Detailing on the hair is beautiful. The veins on the arm is really a nice touch, it really gives the image a higher sense of realism. I have no idea who Tom from McFly is so I don't know how accurate the image is, but I do know this image is very well done. I think the guitar needs to be redrawn. It took me a minute to figure out what he was holding.

Dreaming by designingdisasters
Great sense of realism, again. The texture on this image is very, very smooth. The man's lips seem perfectly realistic and the blue eyes, blue hair, and blue sky give the image a wonderful sense of unity.  The shadows are nice, it makes the light seem realistic. I think that the shoulders are a little bit off, but I also don't know if she was working for a source image. Either way it is just minor nitpicking on my part.

:iconsecondary-target:

This digital artist has a really colorful gallery.

Cover Book Design by SECONDARY-TARGET

This lovely bit of art shows of great emotion. On the left side. The right side seems a little more obscured but is still a wonderful image.  The background and the texture really ties the two images together.

Shut Up by SECONDARY-TARGET

I grabbed this because it seems to be the top left image in the previous artwork.

Fascinated by SECONDARY-TARGET

This is just per skill. Pretty anime girl, and style. Again, lots of wild colors: the background has a nice washed watercolor feel.

:iconblack-jack-attack:

This gallery has a lot of depth to it. She has a lot of satirical comics written about smallville so you can go to her gallery and check that out if you know anything about smallville it might be worth your time. She has other types of work, such as random digital art, some traditional art, some photography, and some collages.

Holey Socks request 2 by Black-Jack-Attack

This is a great composition with contrast. It was a request though.

Overwhelmed by Black-Jack-Attack

This image is wonderfully creepy. I suggest opening it up and giving it a good view. It has a lot of vague details that need to be evaluated if you truly want to appreciate the game.

Psycho Teddy by Black-Jack-Attack

This image made me go WTF? I hope the artist picks up the game Naughty Bear.

Just sharing a bit of imagery.

A Puddle's Secret III by LashelleValentine

This is a cool vantage point. It's a simple reflection photo graph but I love the depth of field involved and the nature of that Greek/roman architecture being surrounded by the stones.

If you're into adorable cute work please check this gallery out.

comm - Pira by Princess-CoCo-154

Cute girl. She has unity with her eyes, horns, dress, bow, etc being blue but she is surrounded by the red and green hair which creates that powerful red on green color contrast that makes the figure really pop. Wonderful skin.

Ce - Kitty by Princess-CoCo-154

I love the wonderful 8 bit feel this has. The character is also absolutely adorable.

Spring beauty by Princess-CoCo-154

Another fantastic and adorable scene.

B: Weekly 700 Point Contest

There is only one way to win this week. The only thing you need to do is post the icon of someone you think I should feature! I am :Icon Akuard: Or :iconlightrayphotography: Remove the space! So just post a friend :Icon Friendsname!: Preferably, share someone you watch and you believe I should watch. Why 700 points? 700 is enough for a 3 month membership if you want to give yourself one. I felt it odd to give away 636 or whatever is required, so I rounded up. 700 points will remain the same every week but the contest will change every week.

:iconmavelle-ealenyr: Won the Fifth Contest!
:iconuranus-seventhsun: Won the Fourth Contest!
:iconeyelessdonovan: Won the Third Contest! But I gave :iconequielle: 350 points just for entering.
:iconchandrawilliams: Won the second contest but I also gave :iconmavelle-ealenyr: 350 points just for entering.
:iconequielle: won the first contest.

  C: Monthly 2000 Point Giveaway

This month this is actually four 500 point giveaways.

Last month :iconprincess-coco:154: and :iconlashellevalentine: won the 1000 point contests but I gave :iconblack-jack-attack:, :icondesigningdisasters:, :iconsecondary-target:, and :DarklightseekerArt: 500 points each for giving being in the top 4 commenters on my page. (I was going to do the top 5 but there was a tie)

Every fresh comment that is put on an artist's work that I have featured in my journals, from now until November Fifth, 2013, will enter you into the contest. This will be on anything that has been featured: poetry, photos, traditional, etc. If you're bad at English, it doesn't matter. The fact that you're trying to communicate is more important than saying it 100% correctly! The four winners will receive features and 500 points each. Because I will not be notified when you comment on someone's work like this, you MUST post the URL to that work in this journal so I can check that you did! You may post on multiple people's work! You can also sign your work with :iconlightrayphotography: (:Icon Akuard: but remove the space) and it will notify me of your posts in my "mention" section!)

D:  News and My Challenge to You!

I pushed three artists to do some things and this is what they came up with:

Challenge 4 by San-T by :iconsan-t:

:bigthumb407136249: by :iconrey-of-arcadia:

I demand art. by EyelessDonovan by :iconeyelessdonovan:

If you want to know what I asked them to do, some of them have it posted in their discriptions. If you want to try to do it, please contact me and I'll give you the same thing I gave them. I guess I need to do one of these this weekend now.

Sigh. So much to do and so little time.

My Challenge For You

I challenge you to actually look at other people's features. Comment on them. Open up artworks and comment on those artworks. I would say 90% of your efforts will not be returned in-kind but that is how you'll grow community. You'll gain watchers, pageviews, etc.
