IF YOUR CONNECTION IS SLOW YOU MAY NEED TO WATCH THE VIDEO TWICE! (45 seconds)

This is an observational stop motion video made in flash, about danceing, using the photographic lighting techniques and shutterspeed techniques that I know. I wanted the obsderver to feel like they were observing something beautiful, rare, and supernatural. Pay attention to the shadows, too, because they're a great deal of fun. Also, someone in the graphic design lab showed me how to make the image stop instead of loop.

Second ever video made. This is the first: fav.me/d33054q

400 or so individual images shot with a canon rebel XS at 3888 x 2582' then reduced and played through flash at 9 frames per second. The Size is something like 271x170 something. I tried to upload a 500x333 but DA rejected it.

Wow, that was almost hypnotic, I really like the shadowing and lighting, it has a very mysterious mood to it.

I found that many people can't watch the video because their connections are too slow. But the next one I upload will be in the film area so it will have a proper buffer.

Really cool, and kind of creepy! It's pretty surreal. It has an interesting mixture of beauty and creepiness.

Very nicely composited though i feel it could've done with being at a higher frame rate :(. Sadly animation isn't part of my competition (i really should of mentioned that in the forum....)

Hey no problem. Higher framerates generate higher production times proportionately.

I don't agree with the comment below me at all :shakefish:
I think that you've captured the crazed sensation of dancing completely!!
It's a phenomenal piece if you ask me, well done mate!

It's interesting, but it doesn't really capture the "dancing" feel to me. It's very erratic and frantic-looking, where to me dancing is more about grace and smoothness of movement. This looks almost more like she's a puppet being jerked around.

Just my opinion, though! :)

Did you let it buffer fully before watching it? It might simply be the latency on your computer that makes it less smooth.

Slightly weird and surreal, she makes me think of a puppet on a string. Nice work though!

Rather than slow, I think this is rather fast, very confusing because everything happens so quickly and looks kind of blurry. I agree that maybe if music was added, this would be a much more appealing piece :)
But keep it up with your stop motion, I bet you'll continue to improve from here~

In your artist's comment you said "IF YOUR CONNECTION IS SLOW YOU MAY NEED TO WATCH THE VIDEO TWICE"
It was pretty fast on the first round it played XD

Right. If your internet connection is slow, the image gets stuck and buffers. If your connection is fast, it plays regularly.

So , Bonobo - Flutter came on while i was watching this. Kind of added another dimension to it. I'm really digging how you produced this. It manages to be fluid and beautiful without making us feel like peeping toms. Thanks for sharing :)

I am hesitant to add music. She is dancing, and the way the video is made, the dancing is rather erratic.

oh something new i learned.....see one advise as a friend....you have a piece already up there....might want to try add one more piece with music....see how it comes out....coz i was going thru your comments and there were others who asked for it too...so no loss in trying.....take it as a challenge and overcome it....ciao!!

The music would never match with her movements because while she is dancing on beat, my clicking of the camera is not

You could always have someone write a score with eclectic type music, so that it fits the piece.

Definiatly better then the first one :D

This was really interesring to watch, mainly the opacity effects made it interesting and as the title says, it had the "eternal" feeling. Most of the frames were blended really nicely, but as for the jumps or the backroll(?) i registered 2 or 3 frames, without the blending(meaning the backroll) wich made it seem a bit too harsh to me.

However the part after that looks almost like she is really moving, and it left me staring at the screen :D
The flashing effects gave it a mystic atmosphere(wich personaly i seek out in every piece of art) so thats really a big

The last thing id like to mention is, that in one part, she changes her position from standing to laying within one frame, that seemed a bit off to me(However it may have been the point, but personaly it was something unapealing to my eye)

Overally i like the whole concept, and i have to say that you made a huge jump fowards, and im looking foward to see your next stop motion video :)
