Intent:
This is a series displaying finality and a lack of expressive emotion. However, this does not mean the image lacks expression or emotion. Simply that the expression is supposed to be driven from the light and shadow play; which is, in my opinion, quite intense. The sharpness in contrast is to show a hidden nature and depth of questions underneath the figure. Her expression is designed to elicit no response, but the shadows, hair, and hand placement is intended to drive the image.

Construction:
There is no digital editing on these photos. When exporting from the camera I exported them with high sharpness. Her skin and hair are wet in these images. A homemade diffusion filter, which had recently been hit by a car, provided me with what I needed for the these shots. The depth of field seems a little unnatural with great intention for the aforementioned reasons.

Update:
The original image is the center image. I am updating these as a triptych to match the rest of my gallery.

I really love the idea to arrange them as triptych, it seems to tell a story!
And you are totally right with it being intense--you can clearly feel emotions, and it's really interesting to look at.
Good work!

I think that images must be viewed in series to be understood. However, people on DA don't look at full series. They look at singular images. Thus, triptychs :)

Yeah - I'm also a bit disappointed that one cannot categorise images as series in dA. =/
(Some series are so small that making a folder for them would be silly.)
Doing it this way was a real smart idea!

I read that the center image is the original one and it is a great shot that is more artistic in nature with how the model is posed and how the filter seems to be more prominent but I'm really impressed by the image on the left! This is an excellent photo and could stand alone but I understand why you have them together!

I'm curious as to why you decided to keep this set in color when the other images in the series are black and white?

I think a long time ago id uploaded them all sperately... but I would delete anything that didnt get comments or favorites on. My self esteem has changed and I realized there were great shots mssing out on attention. So i merged them with tye more succesful. I have three more sets fom this series that I want to upload...

Simple answer, took the others as black and white. I took these as color.

Lol, good reason I guess. ;)

I like this one a lot. It has a feel of confusion or fuzziness. Very cool.

When I was reviewing this photo I was downright confused. I didn't know what to make of it. However, after prolonged looking at it I find the broken down nature of the photograph to be its charm and appeal. Probably one of the better photos I've seen on Deviantart.

I could easily use this as a print on my wall, it's just screaming 'place me here' all over it! A homemade diffusion filter? That's awesome.

Yeah. UV filter + some Vaseline and hairspray... oh, and it got hit by a car so there are places where there isn't any glass.

The f-stop combined with the diffusion filter really tear the clarity image up. Since I shot it with nigh-maximum sharpness the file just seems so unreal

Your shots look like they tell a story... I hope that makes sense :P
